Introduction

College of Water Resources and Architectural Engineering has 5 departments, including agricultural water conservancy engineering, hydrology and water resources engineering, hydraulic and hydroelectric engineering, civil engineering, and power and electrical engineering. There are 218 faculty members, including 37 professors (research professors) and 111 associate professors (associate research professors), and senior experimentalists; 32 doctoral supervisors and 118 master supervisors. Among them, there are 2 Double employed Academicians, 3 national-level talents, 3 young national-level talents, 1 "distinguished teacher" of Shaanxi Province, more than 10 provincial talents of Shaanxi Province, and 2 teaching teams awarded by Shaanxi Province.

The college has two doctoral degree authorization points of first-level disciplines and post-doctoral research stations in agricultural engineering and hydraulic engineering, a master's degree authorization point of first-level disciplines in civil engineering, and a Master of Engineering degree authorization point in civil and hydraulic engineering, of which agricultural water and soil engineering is a national key discipline. There are 6 undergraduate majors in agricultural water conservancy engineering, hydrology and water resources engineering, hydraulic and hydroelectric engineering, civil engineering, energy and power engineering, electrical engineering and automation, among which three majors in water conservancy have passed the National Engineering Education Certification many times. Agricultural water conservancy engineering, hydrology and water resources engineering, and hydraulic and hydroelectric engineering are the national first-class undergraduate professional construction points. Agricultural water conservancy engineering is a national-level characteristic professional construction point, an excellent major in Shaanxi Province, a characteristic professional construction point in Shaanxi Province, and "Innovative Experimental Zone for Compound Talents Training Mode of Agricultural Water Conservancy Engineering in Shaanxi Province"; Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering and hydraulic and hydroelectric engineering are the characteristic professional construction points in Shaanxi Province. There are 2911 students, including 2204 undergraduates, 551 master students, and 156 doctoral students. Since its establishment, the college has trained more than 20,000 professional and technical personnel at all levels, and 3 alumni have become academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering.

The college has the National Engineering Laboratory of Crop Efficient Water Use, the Key Laboratory of Agricultural Water and Soil Engineering in Arid Areas of the Ministry of Education, the Key Laboratory of Crop Efficient Water Use of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Experimental Center of the Northwest Institute of Hydraulic Research of the Ministry of Water Resources, the Shaanxi Provincial Water-saving Irrigation Experimental Center, and the Shaanxi Province Water Engineering Safety and Construction Research Center, Shaanxi Provincial Water Conservancy Engineering Quality Inspection Center Station, Northwest Hydraulic Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd., Northwest Hydraulic and Hydroelectric Construction Survey and Design Institute and other scientific and technological innovation research and social service platforms. The college has a national-level agricultural water engineering experimental teaching demonstration center, two experimental teaching demonstration centers of Shaanxi Province in surveying and mapping and electrical engineering, and agricultural water engineering provincial virtual simulation experimental teaching center. The college sponsored two academic journals, "Journal of Water Resources and Water Engineering" and "Journal of Water Resources and Architectural Engineering".

Since the establishment of the college, more than 80 years, generations of teachers and students of the college have adhered to the school-running philosophy of “managing state fundamentals, solving civilian livelihood, and respecting scientific research” and the college motto of "inheriting the Dayu’s ambition, building morality and merit", and insisting on the fundamental task of building morality and cultivating people. Focusing on the major national, local, and industrial needs and the overall development goals of the school, it is committed to the cultivation of senior talents in hydraulic engineering, civil engineering, energy and power engineering and electrical engineering and automation, scientific research, social services, and cultural heritage, and has built up the distinctive characteristics and advantages in the research fields of agricultural water conservation, water resources management in the arid area, river and reservoir sediment, energy dissipation of high dams, anti-seepage and anti-frost heaving of canals and reservoirs, and hydraulic engineering construction in special land areas in the west, which have made outstanding contributions to the career development and regional economic construction in Northwest China and even the whole country.

In the past 10 years, it has been awarded by more than 100 national, provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, including the National High-tech Research and Development Program (863 Project), the National Science and Technology Support Program, the National Key Research and Development Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China Key Project, the National Natural Science Foundation of China Major Program Project, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China Outstanding Youth Fund, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and its youth projects and industry public welfare projects. More than 200 horizontal projects have been granted, with a total funding of 230 million yuan. The college has published more than 30 academic monographs and more than 3,000 academic papers, of which more than 1,000 are indexed by SCI/EI, and more than 50 invention patents have been authorized. The college has won 1 second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 second prize of Natural Science Award, and 6 first prizes of the provincial and ministerial level. It actively carries out the international cooperation, docks the Belt and Road Initiative, and expands the space for domestic and foreign cooperation and exchanges. There have been more than 60 delegations from more than 20 countries and regions, including more than 400 person-time exchanges and cooperation with the delegations from United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Egypt, Israel, etc. It has established stable cooperative relations with well-known domestic universities, such as China Agricultural University, Wuhan University, and Hohai University, as well as important scientific research institutes, such as China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research and the Institute of Farmland Irrigation of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
